Benjamins Sign a Certified Backfield Wrecker

READING, PA – The Pennsylvania Benjamins announced today that defensive lineman Joshua Pryor has signed with the club, adding proven collegiate production to the team’s defensive front.

Pryor’s 2018 season at Bowie State stands out as one of the most disruptive single-year profiles to join the Benjamins roster. During a championship run, he totaled 55 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, nine sacks, and three forced fumbles, along with a fumble recovery and a blocked kick. Head Coach Lee Johnson said that level of impact is exactly what Pennsylvania looks for up front. “We signed Joshua because he attacks,” Johnson said. “The tackles for loss, the sacks, the forced fumbles, that is impact football.”

The numbers reflect more than pressure. Tackles for loss end drives before they start. Sacks erase downs. Forced fumbles change games. Pryor’s résumé signals a finisher who can create negative plays and turn disruption into possessions. In the indoor game, that kind of backfield presence forces offenses to speed up decisions and shrink the playbook, creating opportunities across the entire defense.

For the Benjamins, Pryor projects as a disruptor capable of tilting protections and creating one-on-one situations for teammates around him. General Manager Gregg Fornario emphasized the identity the club is building on that side of the ball. “We want a defense that creates negative plays and takes the ball away,” Fornario said. “His production supports the role we brought him in to play.”

Pryor will report to team activities as scheduled and will be integrated into the defensive rotation as preparations continue for the upcoming season.
